Strategy for Tourism Development

Project description:

This is one of the coalition projects created by companies associated informally around the initiative of Global Compact Steering Committee. The aim of this project was to produce a tourism development strategy for Kamienna Góra Powiat (Kamienna Góra county).
Companies participating in the project funded the strategy, which had been previously chosen by an expert. UNDP coordinated process of strategy development and funded local consultant who supported the companies engaged. Based on this project, there appeared plenty of new opportunities for Kamienna Góra to progress its tourism and implement them through the use of a strategy.

Project’s goal:

Creation of a Strategy for Tourism Development in Kamienna Góra Powiat

Results:

• Document of a strategy signed by Powiat Council
• Proposal for Regional Touristic Brand
• Indication of prospective projects possible to implement
• Starting the partnership between UNDP and starostwo powiatu (administrative office of a county) in Kamienna Góra (submitting proposal of a project, which had previously
appeared in the strategy to the Voivodeship’ Marshal Office)

Benefits:

• Local government received a strategic document of very high quality, which was pivotal for well-coordinated local development.
• Through social consultancies representatives of local community (business, NGOs, residents) had the opportunity to define one’s own opinion about their region and vision for
its development.
• Process of strategy development resulted in new activities and projects which aimed at progressing the touristic potential of the region.
