Theme Coalitions
Global Compact’s primary task for the forthcoming years is convening a group of socially responsible companies and organizations, which would implement projects of high importance to human development through theme coalitions, each of which focusing on an important social problem.
Activities planned:
• Activation of Global Compact Steering Committee’s Members
• Recruitment of new GC members through popularization of knowledge about Initiative among private sector
• Creation of new theme coalitions (company groups sharing interest in certain social problems)
• Establishing expertise support system for companies by creating think-tanks (expert groups)
• Advance the projects aimed at effective support of human development
• Promoting results of the projects
Companies’ role: choosing a direction for action, developing projects along with UNDP and experts, supporting the projects by providing business knowledge and funds, popularizing GC and CSR.
Experts’ role: providing know-how in a process of project developing and implementation, project choice advising.
UNDP focuses on coordinating the activities in line with GC, stimulating experts’ and companies’ participation, advising, project management, communicating about the project (press conferences, media campaigns)
Cooperation with GC is also open to: business societies, municipalities, NGOs, public administration, local governments.
UNDP provides know-how on:
• cross-sectorial partnerships
• local partnerships
• tourism development (image management for local administration, branding)
• human resources development
• subject of ethnic minorities (especially Roma)
• development aid
• subject of refugees/ immigrants
• social exclusion and labor market
• gender mainstreaming
• HIV/AIDS
• Environment protection
• Human Development Strategy
• Social Capital development
